Artist's statement
I paint in pastel for its delicacy, texture and luminous qualities. While often used for its vibrancy of color, I prefer a more subtle palette closer to nature.
I work in the tradition of classical realism, painting from life in natural light as my atelier training has taught me. Every painting is a challenging endeavor to capture not just a physical likeness of my subjects but also their temperament, the subtleties of their personality, their emotions, their uniqueness...their very essence.
